l La Jolla, California. We are looking for posters in the range of origina
l research that support OB/GYN Hospitalist Medicine. Projects could consis
t of any of the following:
Your po
ster will be in the presentation hall for attendees to view starting with t
he opening session. There will be a poster session from 5-6 pm on Tuesday S
eptember 24 where authors may stand by their posters to answer questions. T
he winning poster will be chosen at the end of that session. The author of
the winning poster will be given the opportunity to give a 15 minute presen
tation during the morning general ACM session September 25. The monetary aw
ard for the best poster will consist of funding attendance to the 2020 gene
ral ACM.
We welcome posters by residents, midwives or attendin
g physicians. This is a fabulous opportunity to present your research at a
national meeting.
Please submit a paragraph summary of your poster via email with "2 019 ACM Poster" in subject line to cschneider@veritasmeetingsolutions.com by July 15, 2019 .
SOGH is pleased to announce the inaugural Future Leaders Award. This award covers the cost of registration for the 2 019 annual meeting in La Jolla, CA. Current medical students, residents and fellows are eligible for this award. During the conference you will be ass igned a mentor who will be managing a portion of the meeting. | Essential Skills for Safe Operative Vaginal Delivery – Hands-on Course | Emmanuelle Pa re, MD | This course will start with a one-hour l ecture reviewing principles of safe operative vaginal delivery (forceps and vacuum). For the hands-on portion, the participants will be divided in 3 groups and will spend 40 minutes practicing the essential skills for s afe application and use of vacuum and 80 minutes (2 sessions of 40 minutes) practicing the BASIC essential skills for safe application and use of low and outlet forceps*. Models used for the hands-on portion are the hig h-fidelity task trainer “Lucy and her Mum” Max 8:1 participants to in structor ratio for the hands-on portion. *This workshop is NOT design ed to cover more advanced forceps such as rotation forceps, mid-forceps and Piper forceps. | 24< /p> |

| Train the trainer is a didactic and hands-on program deve loped to provide participants with the basic fundamentals of quality improv ement initiatives through the creation of safety bundles, checklists, simul ation and team building skills. This program will be divided into thr ee interactive segments. The first session will focus on effective team bui lding strategies. Teamwork principles including leadership, situational awa reness, mutual support and effective communication skills will be explored. This presentation will be followed with a team building exercise. Th e second portion of this program will assist participants in developing qua lity improvement projects through the exploration of the major causes of ma ternal morbidity and mortality, establishing goals for improvement, obtaini ng buy in, using safety bundles, checklists and simulation to advance patie nt safety within the participants’ home institutions. Lastly, this pr ogram will come full circle by using low fidelity simulation as a means to test quality improvement proposals.
