Job Description: 

Orlando Health, a $3.8 billion not-for-profit healthcare organization with more than 3,300 beds serving Central Florida and beyond, seeks an outstanding leader as the Assistant Vice President, Orlando Health & Chief Medical Officer, Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies (WPH).  A member of the WPH executive leadership team, the Chief Medical Officer works collaboratively with the Medical and Hospital Staff to ensure evidence-based practice standards, protocols, and direction are in place, and ensures the highest quality and efficiency of patient care.  Reporting to and in partnership with the SVP, Orlando Health & President, WPH s/he will be responsible for clinical leadership and administering clinical quality with the goal of delivering exceptional clinical and patient-centric care. 

Reporting to and in partnership with the Senior Vice President, Orlando Health and President, Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies, Kelly Nierstedt, the Chief Medical Officer Executive will be responsible for clinical leadership and administering clinical quality with the goal of delivering exceptional clinical and patient-centric women’s health and neonatal services in Orlando, the Southeast Region and for establishing Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies as a nationally recognized leader in Women and Babies clinical care. 

Essential Functions Include (but are not limited to):

  • Responsible for leading quality improvement initiatives for Women’s and Babies programs across all Orlando Health facilities, including integration of employed and independent physician groups with Women’s and Babies clinical protocols and quality improvement initiatives. 
  • Work with the President to build and integrate amongst medical staff to advance quality, safety, patient experience, physician/provider satisfaction and build strategic position both regionally and nationally.  Provide strong leadership and direction to ensure that WPH is operationally successful in the areas of quality and safety. 
  • Function as an active member of the senior executive team and build collaborative relationships between WPH and the other hospitals/business units within the system.  Work within the system to maximize WPH’s success through effective utilization of system resources. 
  • Maintain clinical practice at Orlando Health.  Not to exceed 15% of Full Time Equivalent. 
  • Work closely with the other members of the administrative management team in reviewing marketplace strategy and evaluating new growth opportunities and develop sustainable growth strategy for clinical programs. 
  • Collaborate with President on the development of a strategic business plan each fiscal year that support attainment of a world class Women’s and Babies Service Line. 
  • Responsible for the development and growth of all Women and Babies clinical programs within Orlando Health.  Attain regional and national leadership position and rankings in all clinical programs. 
  • Working with the President of Orlando Health Medical Group responsible for recruitment of physicians with unique skill sets to develop new programs and expansion of existing programs for Women and Babies Service Line. 
  • Conduct chart and case reviews and such activities to evaluate the practice patterns of members of the department where there is a reasonable concern for complying with national and community standards of care.  Assist in the development of protocols that comply with national standards of care. 
  • Assist in the design, implementation, maintenance, and coordination of comprehensive credentialing, quality assurance, risk and utilization review programs and initiate development of performance improvement/clinical effectiveness projects to enhance the quality of clinical services in the Department and work with individual physicians to improve their quality of care. 

Position Requirements:

  • An MD (or equivalent) with a track record of administrative leadership experience is required for this position.
  • Previous administrative/leadership experience in an institution that has a high volume and high risk patients (> 5,000 births annually).
  • Graduate degree in business, healthcare administration or related field preferred.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Florida.
  • Board certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology required.  OB/GYN strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience as a clinical physician required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as a healthcare executive required.  Experience within an integrated healthcare system is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in improving operational performance in the areas of quality and safety including patient satisfaction, physician and employee satisfaction.

Full Job Description: 

Envision Physician Services and All Women’s Healthcare are seeking an OB/GYN physician to join their group providing services at Memorial Regional Hospital. The group is an established practice delivering about 1,250 patients annually, doing about a third of the GYN surgeries at the hospital, and partnering with MFM and Neonatology (Level III+ NICU) for those high risk patients. Potential expansion includes an OB ED and the start of an OB Residency Program in the hospital system that’s scheduled for summer of 2020. Details of the opportunity are listed below: 

·         Staffing Model: 6 Physicians (with potential to add 2 more), 4 Midwives, 1 Nurse Practitioner 

o   Physicians rotate through hospitalist and clinic shifts 

o   Midwives are in-house alongside physician helping with low-risk vaginal deliveries and triage 

o   Nurse Practitioner sees patients in clinic 

§  (Mon-Fri) 

§  (High-risk clinic on Tue with MFM) 

·             Contractual Hour Requirement: 

o   (5) 24-hr Hospitalist shifts                                  

o   (7-8) 8-hr clinic shifts (8a-4p)                                 

o   4-hr Chart Review (referrals, lab results, CNM charts)     

·         High-risk OB practice delivering about 1,250 patients per year, 100/month give or take
